Typoetic.us is a quarterly literary magazine that explores everything that is poetry on the web. Typoetic.us features poems, essays, interviews, visual/audio art, and more from poets and enthusiasts of all levels, aiming to show the world how important poetry is to not only its participants, but also its spectators.
The word typoetic.us comes from a few a-ha moments from the editor-in-chief. Typoetic was a name of a blog she used to test out writing exercises. She thought of them as sort of a typo: messy, unintentional, but stands out (though not necessarily incorrect). When she decided to recycle the name for a literary journal and was searching for domain name, she couldn't find her first choice with a .com. So she started doing some research and played around with typoetic. That's when she discovered the word poeticus, which is a flower know as the poet's daffodil. "How perfect," she thought. So she bought a .us domain and the url reads as typoetic.us.
So the idea of typoetic.us is messy, unintentional, and as beautiful as a flower. It stands out for its beauty and for the close relationship it has with the poet. It is everything that poetry is and isn't (though the "isn't" is not necessarily incorrect). It's a typo waiting to happen.
Typoetic.us aims to showcases poems of all types of topics and forms. We look to include articles, features, and interviews about poets, being a poet, the writing world and the writing life (there is a difference!)
We look forward to building this journal into something readers can treasure and the place writers want to submit!
